Driveway alerts are some of the most affordable devices to enhance your home security, assuming you don't live in town. I think everyone likes to have a little early warning when visitors come calling.

In the past these had to be wired, now there are affordable wireless solutions. A wireless motion sensor (or a buried probe that picks up only vehicles) near the end of your drive sends a radio signal to your house sounding a pleasant chime, or turning on lights to welcome visitors or make unwanted visitors think someone is at home.

These make a nice addition to a home security system, or may be used alone to provide a low level of security. Once you have one you will wonder how you got along without it!
