People Who Live in Glass Houses (need glass breakage detectors)

In the old days alarm installers used thin metal foil on the glass to detect breakage. It worked well, but required a lot of repair and maintenance, and also wasn't very attractive. Shock (impact) sensors were next used, and still are in certain applications.

The latest and best technology is to use acoustic (sound) sensors. These devices use sophisticated algorithms to detect the sound of breaking glass while ignoring everyday sounds. Dogs barking? No problem!

Usually placed on the ceiling, one sensor can usually protect all the windows in one room, giving you a lot of bang for your buck. Available in both wired and wireless versions, your alarm company can recommend which is most cost-effective for you. It is usually a good idea to back up these sensors with some interior motion detection; having layers of protection helps ensure an intruder cannot get by undetected.

The best feature is that glass breakage detectors pick up an intruder before he gets inside, keeping you and your family safe and sound!
